Malta's retreat scene is small but well-established for a country of its size. Yoga and silent retreats run on Malta, Gozo, and (more rarely) Comino, in stone-village farmhouse and coastal settings. Gozo in particular has a quieter atmosphere suited to silent retreats. Year-round mild climate makes Malta a convenient autumn-spring retreat destination when much of northern Europe is too cold. English is an official language; food is Mediterranean-vegetarian-friendly. Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are the most comfortable; summer is hot.
