Turkey blends Mediterranean yoga retreats with deeper Sufi Islamic spiritual tradition. The Aegean and Mediterranean coasts — Fethiye, Kabak, Olympos, and the Bodrum peninsula — host beachside yoga retreats year-round, with Kabak especially known for an established multi-camp yoga community. Cappadocia in central Anatolia offers retreats in fairy-chimney cave hotels, often combining yoga with hot-air balloon mornings and Sufi ceremony evenings. Konya — the resting place of Rumi — and Istanbul are the centers of Mevlevi Sufi tradition; some retreats include attending sema (whirling) ceremonies, but treat these as cultural-spiritual experiences rather than tourist shows. Istanbul also hosts secular mindfulness and contemporary yoga shalas. English is widely spoken at international-facing retreat centers; food is Mediterranean/Anatolian with strong vegetarian options.
