Meditation & Yoga Retreats in Taiwan
5 retreat centers
Taiwan's small but distinguished retreat scene is anchored by Mahayana Buddhist monasteries with established international programs. Dharma Drum Mountain (Jinshan) and Fo Guang Shan (Kaohsiung) both run retreats in English for Western practitioners, including formal Chan (Zen) sesshin. Several smaller Pure Land and Tibetan-tradition centers operate throughout the island. Yoga retreats are concentrated in Taipei and Tainan. Mandarin is the working language; English is widely available at international-facing centers. Best seasons run October–April. Most Western passports get visa-free entry. Cost: monastery stays donation-based; commercial retreats $700–$1,800 a week.
