Meditation & Yoga Retreats in Mongolia
8 retreat centers
Mongolia's retreat scene is small but distinctive, shaped by Tibetan-tradition Buddhism and nomadic culture. The Gandantegchinlen monastery in Ulaanbaatar is the historic seat of Mongolian Buddhism. Steppe and forest yurts (ger camps) host yoga and silent retreats combining practice with horseback riding and traditional Mongolian cuisine. The Gobi Desert offers wilderness silence in summer. Mongolian and Russian are the working languages; English is available at international-facing centers. The retreat season is short — June–August is the only practical window outside Ulaanbaatar. Most Western passports get visa-free or e-visa entry. Cost: $800–$2,500 for a week.
