Cyprus combines Mediterranean yoga retreats with a long Orthodox Christian monastic heritage. Yoga retreats are common in the Akamas Peninsula, the Troodos Mountains, and along the Paphos and Polis coasts; some centers run year-round. The Troodos offers cooler-climate retreats in pine forest. Orthodox monasteries (Kykkos, Machairas, Stavrovouni) host genuine pilgrim-style stays for serious visitors, distinct from yoga retreats. English is widely spoken alongside Greek; vegetarian Mediterranean food is the norm. Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–October) are most comfortable; July–August are hot but coastal retreats run year-round.
